  1. I first saw this movie in my early teens and the more I watch it the more I love it. When I first saw it I thought it was slow and I didn't really understand why it was on the top lists of science fiction. It wasn't until I gained an appreciation for style and effects in film did this movie really do it for me. Most of the effects in this movie were practical.(Models and matte paintings) The big blimp in the sky, the cars, the massive nexus building, and more were all models shot to look real. This type of effect is what will make a film last the sands of time. Remember how good Star Wars Episode 1 effects looked? Or Avatar even? Go back and watch them now, they look terrible to today's CGI standards and today's CGI will look terrible to tomorrow's.

The theme of the film(empathy) is kind of lost to me. The only two moments I really care about the characters is when Rachael learns she is a replicant and Roy Batty's "tears in the rain" monologue. I thought the music was on point with the noir setting but made some scenes feel too dreamy.

I think the visuals are what makes this movie for me. The neon blue light reflecting on rainy streets, the steam from the sewers, the futuristic 80's flying cars, the blimp, costumes, and the cultural clash of Asia and America are what makes this movie stand out in the time it was filmed. I don't think this movie would be a hit if came out today but at the time I'm sure it was astonishing. That being said I have yet to watch Blade Runner 2049 which did come out this year.

    9/10 will watch again.

  2. Good movie though a bit longer then it needs to be. Liked Ridley Scott's vision of the future and the way he showed it with all the excellent effects, though I'm starting see a common theme with this guy and water.

Story of the movie was a average at best to see these days with it being a relativly common sci-fi theme but I imagine it was much more grabbing when the movie came out.

The movie still stands as one of the great sci-fi classics and as such is worth a watch to any fans of the genre.
    8/10 would watch again.
