So this starts out with a girl standing on a car and seeing some aliens in the distance. An explosion happens behind her and the aliens are alerted. She tries to get in a car but instead sets off the alarm, alerting the aliens further. She tries hiding in a shed but the alien dog thing finds her. The dog is distracted by a car alarm turning off... The girl escapes the shed and gets into a truck. The truck is picked up by a big flying alien thing. The girl falls to the back seat and conveniently discovers all the fixings for a molotov cocktail including a zippo. She lobs the improvised incendiary device into the mouth of the alien dragon thing. This kills the alien. The girl then drives off and hears on the radio that people who want to be safe should go north, and people that can fight should go to Houston. She picks the latter and credits roll.
If you are wondering why I left out the first hour and a half of the movie it is because that was an entirely separate story and had very little if nothing to do with the ending. The first bit was a psychological thriller akin to Misery with Kathy Bates.
